DESCRIPTION:Every February\, Canadians\, especially the members of our community are invited to participate in Black History Month festivities and events that honor the legacy of Black Canadians. At Canadian Multicultural Centre we have members that hail from 40 different black nations\, and we enjoy celebrating and  honoring all Black Canadian and other black people in our community in the month of February\, every year. \nThe year’s theme for Black History Month is: “Black\, Strong\, and Beautiful: Celebrating Black History today and everyday\,” which focuses on recognizing the daily contributions that Black Canadians make to Canada. \nNo matter where you live\, we invite all Canadians to learn more about these communities\, and how they continue to help shape the story of Canada.

SUMMARY:Festival Of Nations
DESCRIPTION:Our 2nd Annual Festival of Nations event will kick off on Friday September 20\, 2024 with a Gospel concert and end on Sunday September 22nd\, 2024 with a Community-driven Food and Arts Contest. \nDay 1 will commence with an All Nations multicultural music festival; this will bring together several renowned folk music groups and artistes (from diverse backgrounds in the province and beyond) on one stage\, to perform for the general public. The three hours power-packed All Nations music festival commences with an acknowledgement of over 40 nationalities in our organization and the community at large\, followed by musical performances from various groups and artistes. There will be keynote speeches by Dr. Elizabeth Fapohunda\, Dr. Lanre Smith\, and other Experts on Diversity about the importance of living in harmony between groups of people from different cultural\, racial and religious backgrounds. The event will take place in the two large multipurpose halls and live streamed on Facebook\, YouTube and TELUS TV channel 876. This is to provide opportunities for Albertans of all backgrounds to come together and experience different cultural traditions and also encourage social cohesion an mutual understanding through sharing of different Cultural experiences. \nDay Two: CMC Youth Take Over Challenge. There will be an Arts and Culture Challenge among the youth and Seniors in the community and the general public through Facebook live. Voting will decide who the winners of the contest are. This program is to empower and strengthen the unity of the various seniors and youth in our organization and community at large. \nDay Three: We will facilitate a Round Table Discussion Forum/Talk Show entitled “CULTURE & MARRIAGE. This will be made available in-person and on our various social media platforms for the Youth\, women and men. In this discussion forum we will discuss the importance of Cultural identity and Marriage. We will have experts on hand to weigh in and educate members of our community on the subject matter.

SUMMARY:Father's Day Celebration
DESCRIPTION:Join us on this Father’s Day for a refreshing in-person or online experience\, as families from all walks of life come together to celebrate fathers in our community and the society at large. \nFather’s Day Celebration in the Canada\, is usually on the (third Sunday in June)\, celebrated to honor fathers. Although it was originally largely a religious holiday\, Father’s Day has been celebrated with the sending of greeting cards and the giving of gifts to Dads\, and other males—for example\, grandfathers or uncles who have assumed parenting roles. At Canadian Multicultural Centre we simply celebrate all men who have made a difference in someone’s life in our community. This is usually a special event in honor of Fathers. Come with your family and friends to celebrate Father’s Day in collaboration with TCIC at CMC this year. You will be glad you did.

DESCRIPTION:Pandemic times have meant moms have had to work extra hard these past years. At Canadian Multicultural Centre we plan to make this year’s Mother’s Day celebration extra special! And we will be sure to make every mom in attendance feel special by presenting them with special gifts\, showing how much we love and appreciate all that they do. We will round up all the fun that’s happening in mom’s honor! We will share inspiring testimonies\, spoken-word and music as it pertains to mothers. We will conclude the event with special barbecue to everyone’s taste within our premises on the outside of our facility. We will be hosting this event in collaboration with TCIC. Join us this Mother’s Day as we celebrate the mothers in our community.
