Inclusively Celebrating Diversity
OUR MISSION
To be a multicultural, diverse, and inclusive community resource center that provides cultural and educational programming, community support, community outreach, and social initiatives to racialized community members of all ages, especially the black community. CMC programs promote community well-being and provide opportunities for volunteering, and skill development.
To create an interactive environment that broadens our understanding and appreciation of multiculturalism, diversity, and social justice; build relationships to establish a broader community network within our province, that is committed to improving the recognition and acceptance of the dignity and worth of every individual, provide a warm, welcoming, hopeful, supportive, and vibrant environment for all underrepresented vulnerable members of our community, that will engage and enhance their social, physical, mental, intellectual, interpersonal, rehabilitative, developmental and leadership skills.
To be a Community Centre that serves as a hub for various ethnocultural community-based organizations, non-profits, and multicultural and social-action entities in Alberta.
We are greater than, and greater for, the sum of us
OUR PROGRAMS AND INITIATIVES
We facilitate anti-racism initiatives and various forms of guidance and counseling services to those in dire need, and we vehemently fight hunger in our community through our Food Security Program. We host multicultural community events such as Picnics, Concerts, Community dinners, Fitness Programs, Seniors’ Independence Programs, Seniors Without Limits Initiative, Summer Camps, Kids Educational Programs, Newcomers Programs, and various Women’s Initiatives.
We facilitate multicultural music lessons, Internet safety seminars, leadership training and workshops, career and business development workshops, conferences, and workshops for youths, women, men, seniors, children, and families of diverse multicultural backgrounds.
We facilitate community outreach and social initiatives: programs for communities with language barriers (including translation services), street outreach to the homeless community, especially, the homeless individuals from the black and the indigenous communities, and individuals dealing with substance abuse, and addiction. We provide opportunities for volunteering and civic engagement among black newcomers and other Canadians. We collaborate with other ethnocultural organizations to enhance the services provided to our community members
ARE YOU NEW TO CMC
CANADIAN MULTICULTURAL CENTRE WELCOMES YOU
We are delighted that you have visited us to learn more about who we are and what we stand for. Our community is built on a foundation of inclusiveness and multiculturalism, which we strive to embody through our cultural and educational programs, community support, outreach, and social initiatives, open to everyone in our diverse community, regardless of race. If we had to describe ourselves in one sentence, we would say that we are a community center that places diversity, knowledge, and social consciousness at the forefront of everything we do.
These values form the DNA of our organization, and they help us create an inclusive community where people from all walks of life can find hope. As a diversity-centered organization, we believe that a community center is more than just a meeting place for people. It is a resource center that provides access to various initiatives designed to enhance the quality of life and broaden social networks. Additionally, we work collaboratively with other non-governmental and governmental organizations and institutions to promote these initiatives. We invite you, your family, and your friends to join us and experience everything that the Citadel Multicultural Center has to offer.
